The purpose or purposes for which the Oregon L5 Society is organized are for charitable, educational, literary, and scientific purposes, namely, to educate the public on the possible uses of space and to promote the establishment of a spacefaring civilization, and to engage in any legal activity, none of which is for profit, for which corporations may be organized under ORS Chapter 61.
Notwithstanding any other provision of these articles, the Oregon L5 Society shall not carry on any other activities not permitted to be carried on by a corporation exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 (or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue Law).
